I did a search on this and couldn't find any information, but is there rear air conditioning in a GEN II prius or does it solely rely on the front ac

No rear AC, only front. I own a 2010 Prius IV and has no rear AC either. Gotta say it's pretty powerful AC tough. Folks in the back will feel it no problem. Not sure if the Prius V does have rear vents.
I looked at that before I bought because the Camry I traded in had rear AC, but don't miss it much since the Prius AC works pretty well and has the plasmacluster technology.

my genII has never given me problems. you're correct to assume there is no rear vents.

anytime i've ever asked guest in the back... i always get a " i can feel it.. it feels good back here"... comment.

No rear air conditioning ducts/vents in the Gen II rear seats/hatch area.

Point to remember: The HV battery operates best at temps that
humans like, lets say 50-80 degF. (So, it makes no sense to go totally
without heat in the winter or air conditioning in the sumer.) It gets it's
cooling air via the vent on the passenger side of the rear seat. This
    vent should never be blocked.

Usually, air from the passenger cabin is gently flows through the HV
battery by a slight over-pressure in the cabin. If the battery gets too
hot there is a rather loud fan that forces air through the battery. HV
battery exhaust is through a vent just behind the passenger side rear
wheel and hidden under the outer body work. There is a similar vent
for the cabin on the driver's side.

There -are- rear A/C vents in the Prius. They are under the front seats. They are not controllable. So don't place objects under the seats as they will block the vents.

The above posters are correct though. There is no separate A/C system for the rear passengers.

Those vents under the seats provide heat. If you have your system set on "AUTO" and the system is cooling it does not route airflow to the floor, which is when those vents would circulate air. You can manually set airflow to the floor and it will come out those vents...but they are meant to be for heat where the system will route airflow to the floor.

So no, no A/C vents in the rear.
