    Car:
    2014 Prius, basic model

    Symptom:
Only rear left electric window and electric lock are not working. They are not responding to driver side control or remote key control. Electronics on other 3 doors function normally.

    Test I performed:
    1) I checked the rear left door fuse under driver steering wheel and it is good.
    2) connection in the rear left door appears to be good (I took of the plastic panel and checked)

    Question:
What do you suggest I should do next? I plan to locate and fix the problem myself? Is this problem common?

    Thanks!

do the switches on the left rear door work?

    isn't it under warranty?

I don't know if it is under warranty, but the car was sold to me "as is".
Switch on rear left is working, and it can lock and unlock the door, because it has a mechanical cable. The problem is I can't control the switch on driver side button or by remote key.

    the window switch isn't mechanical.

you still have the toyota warranty. i'm unsure if it's 1/12 or 3/36.

Thanks! I'll check up with dealer tomorrow about the warranty.

Sorry, I didn't mean the window switch. The electric window switch is not responding. The lock switch is mechanical.

Have you checked the child-proof lock (tiny black slide just below the striker-plate on the rear door?) (see p.52, Destruction Manual)

first time heard about child-proof lock, and striker-plate. Will it affect only one door or all four door at same time?

Standard safety-feature fitted to rear doors of many cars to prevent the doors from being opened from the inside by curious children. (p 52, manual shows diagram of location). One on each rear door. I think it's totally mechanical. - hope this helps - Wil

I checked the child-proof lock. Sadly, it is not the problem. did somebody else have this problem also?

there have been cases where the lock motor has burned out. you can diy a cheap repair, swap a salvage, by a new one, or maybe warranty.

sorry, i went back and re-read. let me see if i have it right: the rear drivers side door lock and window, do not respond to the fob, or the switches on the drivers door, and the window also does not respond to the switch on the passenger door. is this correct?

Reminds me of when my previous car (1993 Corolla DX Wagon) failed state-inspection test¹ as the rear passenger-side (electric) window wasn't working. Despite my protestations that I rarely carried passengers (I think 99.9999% of the 300,000 miles on odometer were solo), the dealer wanted $450 (yup, four-hundred and fifty dollars!) for a new window motor (inc. installation) - solution was to visit local junk-yard, and get local mechanic to replace the bad motor!

¹ I couldn't believe this, however I checked the state-laws and they were correct "…all safety devices (including windows) fitted on the original vehicle have to be in working order" o_O

In this case, I need to take the rear door problem more seriously. Thanks for letting me know.

I just came back from the dealer. They said the door was damaged in an accident and warranty is voided due to the body work. So I have to fix myself.

hmm... sounds like you need electrical help. somehow tracing wire connectivity from the source to the door. are you good with a multi meter and schematic?
