Does anyone know how to turn the camera on and off, when not in reverse?

How about some of you hackers out there that taught me how to turn off my back-up beeping, and seat belt beeping?

Could a switch somewhere do it?

By most accounts though, it's not very useful for antything but backing up. Unless another car is riding your tail you'll hardly be able to see them. I guess there's something of a "cool" factor in being able to switch it on though ;)

good question but that would be a huge safety risk.

I turned off the rear beeping, which is annoying, but I don't think it would be wise to turn off the camera.

It's not necessarily a safety risk, but, if I had been watching mine while parking, I would have avoided getting an ugly ding in my rear bumper. It can also be useful backing up to walls and to check to see if any kids or pets are lurking behind the vehicle.

In short, although it seems unncessary, it can be a useful device that I suggest you use rather than disable.
