I have heard that there is one of these that be added to the Prius 06. Is there one that could be added to the Prius 05?

    Thanks

If you're talking about the rear-view camera, the answer is yes.

I have a 2005. I would love to use the same camera that is installed in the 2006 models. If this is possible, exactly what would I need to do to get this to work?

You need a camera (Sigma sells the OEM) and some sort of video input device to hook it to the MFD. I've never did this so I don't know what else is involved.

    Thanks

You can go to this thread, which lists sites to get the video interphase. Sigma Automotive sells the JDM camera (they also sell the video interphase).

I have tried Coastal Tech and cannot get a reply from them. Could you amplify your "yes"?
    Thanks

Read my post above yours. It gives links for the camera and the interphase. Coastal's isn't out yet, so I'd look elsewhere.

Personally I'm looking at reverse sensors. I found one that has sensors for the front as well. It may not be as good as a camera, but it's cheaper. :)

I have an '06 with the reverse camera. It's a very nice toy, but, because of the ultra wide angles, distances are grossly distorted. 2 feet looks more like 10 feet on the screen. I liked the sonic system built into my old explorer. It started beeping at 6 feet and the beeps got closer together until at 6 inches it sounded a continious tone. Also liked the camera system in the Infinity M35. That system shows two sets of white lines, one is the straight back path, the other is linked to the steering wheel, showing the reverse path varying with steering wheel position.

I think Toyota is switching to a sonic system in 2007 or 2008.

Yesterday this toy saved our Prius from being hit. My wife was backing out of a parking space at a movie theater and someone who was trying to find a parking spot didn't notice that my wife was backing out. Luckly, my wife saw the car in the rearview camera and was able to stop in time before being hit. Good thing the rearview camera had a very wide view. We talked to the driver afterwards and she said she never saw her.

This camera isn't a toy for us.

    Cheers
