Because they are not rated as LRR and because they are heavier by approx. 3lbs/ea.

hmm.. ok, I guess that makes sense. He's willing to sell them to me for $85/tire = $340 total. Thats a good price for a tire that is about $160 @ tirerack.
but I don't know if it's worth it saving on tires and paying more for gas!

anyway, I thank you again for your feedback.

    Regards

You would not be saving money. You could be ContiProContacts or Fuel Max tires for about $70-$78/ea and have a 60,000-80,000 mile warranty and not take a big hit in mpg. :) Good luck with whatever you choose.

Has anyone tried 205/50/16 tires on their Touring?

I had four installed on my 2008 Touring and the slip indicator light kept coming on when I drove 60mph+.

The mechanic tried many combinations and said that these worked:

205/55/16 in the front and 205/50/16 in the back
205/50/16 front left and rear and 205/55/16 front right
    205/55/16 all four

I assume that this means that the sensor is only on the front right and it won't take 205/50/16. Why is that?

Bought 4 at SAMS ( Goodyear fuel max LRR) and my mileage improved slightly. Stuck with factory OEM size since the wheels are so wide it is difficult to put a skinnier and slightly taller tire on it. Will never buy are car with wide tires again. Big mistake.

2009 touring with dripping hatch lock touch pad.

Price was cheap BTW/ $565 total out the door.

I replaced my 195s with 205/55/16s (All 4) with no issues. Did it for a number of reasons:

    1. Cheaper
    2. Greater selection of LRR tyres

Using Goodyears with no issues - good grip, quiet, better mpg but maybe lower miles from tyre due to softer compund
