Red Triangle and red auto lights after new hybrid battery install

Car has 234,000 miles. We recently got the red triangle with the red car ! The OBD code reader said replace the hybrid battery which I just did with the BattMech NiMH cylindrical battery kit. The new Battery pack is at 220 volts. The old one was at 212 before I replaced the cells. The energy monitor says the car is now at 8 blue bars. It was 2 bars when I drove the car into the garage to replace the battery cells so I'm guessing since it went from 2 bars to 8 with the new cells I must have connected the hybrid battery connectors correctly since that data is getting to the monitor.

But the car still turns on with the Red Triangle and Red Car ! warning light but no response from the engine. I tried to clear the codes and restart the car but the Red Triangle warning light still comes on, Car won't go in Drive or Reverse. No engine idle. Pretty much dead.

I hooked the OBD reader up and get codes 7E8, 7EA, and 7EB. So not sure what to do. I thought sure replacing the battery pack was obvious because of the age and the code saying to replace or check the battery pack.

I'm not new to EV batteries since I've done EV conversions with Tesla batteries and Volt batteries and swapped cells for a couple Ford Think City EVs. But I could have missed something. I'm stumped on why the Prius won't go. I'm going to double check the hybrid battery connections again and the oil level.

 

Thanks. The scanner I have is MaxiScan from Amazon. It helped diagnose a problem with my F150 to replace the Bank 1 Camshaft sensor. On the Prius it showed a code saying the hybrid battery needed service or replacement. Can't remember the codes it brought up then. But there were a couple related to the hybrid battery. None of them are showing up now since replacing the battery cells.

But now all it shows are those 7 number things. Kind of surprised it isn't showing any DTCs since something is obviously wrong.

I checked the 12 volt battery and it was reading 12.04 volts which is low. So I took the fairly new 12 volt battery from my 59 Cadillac and rigged that up to the Prius but that didn't make a difference. Since the Prius 12 volt battery is low I may replace it anyway. Also changed the oil since I read low oil could cause the warning lights. But with the oil topped off still the same problem. Also rechecked the connections for the new hybrid battery. They are all good. The new cells in the battery are still at 220 volts. The hybrid system hasn't had a chance to top them off since the car won't turn on.

I tried using the Dr Prius App but it won't connect up to the OBD bluetooth reader I got. So trying to find another way to scan. A couple of my shop neighbors are auto repair shops so I may ask them to scan it.

Thanks, I'll look again. I remember seeing actual codes about the hybrid battery but since that has been replaced they aren't showing up but it should display some codes with all the warning still lights on.
