Remaining number of HOV Stickers as of 9/22 approximately 2000

Now add another 10,000 since AB 2600 was just signed by the Governor.....
Way COOL......

 

BUT - just found out that the 10,000 new stickers for carpool will not be available until Jan 1, 2007 when the bill becomes effective.....

Wonder if they- DMV- will start a wait list?

I doubt it. The 500 kitcar registration is like that too. Requiring owners to lineup to regrister yearly. So all the 500 permits are gone usually in 2 days.

 

California Assembly bills do not take effect until Jan 1 of the following year. The only exception is when the Assembly votes to make a bill an emergency measure (requiring 2/3 majority). AB2600 is not one of those, so would take effect Jan 1, 2007. So that would mean no new stickers until that date. As mentioned by poster dipper, DMV does not do wait lists.
