I recently replaced the 12v auxiliary battery on my 2011 Prius. After I installed the battery, the car started up with no issues but now my navigation screen shows "No DVD, Please insert map DVD.

I am not able to clear this screen. For the last three days I have not been able to use my navigation, Bluetooth, radio and back up camera. All of these items worked prior.

I have removed the negative battery cable several times, 5 mins, 10 mins and 1 hr and everytime the same screen pops up.

I have checked all of the fuses and even removed the radio fuse for 10 mins hoping that it would reset the unit but that did not work either.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Might be an obvious question, but did you try ejecting the Nav DVD and reinserting it? Or is ejecting that disc only possible through the menus? (I don't have a factory Nav radio, so don't know how the Nav disc is handled normally).

Yes, I did eject the Nav DVD. When I reinsert the DVD, nothing happens. During this process there are no other prompts or menus that pop up.

Thanks for the video. I was not able to access the menu. Not sure what I should check next.

how about buying a disc cleaner at Fry's and insert it in the DVD slot? maybe the laser is too dirty to read the map DVD.

I am currently dealing with this problem and I have tried all these 'solutions'. Has anyone had this problem and successfully resolved it?

I should mention that I noticed at one point that my NAV wouldn't load and prior to this happening it said something along the lines of "failure to read nav disc".

Can a DVD disc go bad?

My guess is that the laser has failed in the DVD unit.

Do you know if anyone has successfully replaced the laser in the radio or do I need to buy a new one?

You would do better just buying another DVD NAV unit and installing it. Although, I don't know if there are protections build in to prevent swapping drives from one Prius to another.

I doubt you could get your hands on the laser assembly for this unit as it would have to be the EXACT same part in order to work.

In my mind I was over simplifying it to just soldiering a new laser reading and fixing it that way. But yeah, you're right. I just bought a used one. Thanks for the response.

Post back up if you get it swapped in. I am curious if it is just a straight swap or if there is some sort of security built into the Prius to prevent it. Good luck!

It was a very simple procedure. Loosen all the plastic panels and undo 4 bolts around the radio and disconnect all the wires connected to the radio and reverse the process to install the new factory receiver. Took all of 15 minutes and there were no security things to overcome.

So does the new unit work with your original Nav DVD?

I had put a dvd that I knew would work in the original before installed the other and it didn't work as well.
