I just switched out my hybrid battery and put in a brand new one. Now, the car isn't doing anything and all that's on is the check engine light. What now? I was told I had to tow it to Toyota and have them reset the computer. Sound right?

If only the check engine light is on, then you can clear the DTC logged by the engine ECU by disconnecting the negative 12V battery cable for a few minutes, then reconnecting.

If the car was working reasonably well prior to the traction battery failing, and it now fails to start, check the orange traction battery interlock switch. When installing it, you have to pivot the lever 90 degrees. Then you have to slide the lever to lock it in place.

Really, check the HV battery connector. Numerous cases here of people not getting it plugged back in all the way. It's too safe!

I didn't switch out the battery myself. My dad's mechanic friend did. I don't have the tools to do anything with the car.

I don't think any tools are needed to get to the battery plug. If I remember correctly, it is just a matter of lifting out all the pieces in the back and you can get to the suspect plug.
