The 06 Prius we just purchased does not have a Tire Pressure Sensor on the left rear wheel. So the light is on constantly on the dash.

There are numerous sensors for sale on eBay that “fit†our vehicle. If I buy one of these and have it installed (easy enough…) how do you program it to work with the receiver? Has someone come up with a hack for this…or am I doomed to “pay the man!â€

    Thanks…Great Forum! …and I’m glad I found this place.

Don't know of a hack, but there is a tool you can buy to DIY reprogram
for one or more new sensors, ~$150 USD. Review here.

Otherwise, as far as I know, like you said it's, "pay the man." :(

Should cost $50-$100 at a dealer to "register" the new sensor. It's $50 just to hook up the Toyota scanner. Assuming the sensor you buy is actually compatible. Fit is one thing, electronic compatibility quite another!

Thanks for the link to the DIY tool. That may be a possibility...since it is now $125.00!

In regards to the sensor compatibility issue. The dealer wants $107 for the sensor. There are many listed on eBay that are less than that for a set of 4. What should I be looking for if I am wanting to purchase the sensor at some place other than the dealer.

I'm always willing to find a way to save money...but a cheap deal isn't worth a dime...if things don't work. Thanks again!:)
