This is a short review of the Toro 1800 Power Curve Electric Snow Thrower.
    Toro - Homeowner Snowblowers

I purchased mine from amazon.com for $299 with free shipping.

Now I just need to get some electric lawn care equipment when summer arrives.

I saw this thread and thought it was a little strange for PriusChat.

Then I noticed not even one person had commented on it. So I opened it.

Then I noticed that you did a lot of work presenting this report. At this point you are probably thinking no even one cares.

So for the record, I'd like you to know that a guy that lives in South Florida (and has always lived there) read this well written report.

I don't think I'll ever own a snow blower. I hate the cold. But I wanted to thank you for taking the time to report this. I know someone out there in snow country cares.

Thanks Fstr911. I just posted this and was not expecting any replies for a while anyway.

I just wanted to do this little review just to show people that an electric blower is just as good as and cheaper than an gas blower.

The videos are not mine. I just linked to them. And I'm not married. :(

Well you did a good job, and I failed to note that Rokeby thanked you also.

Nifty little unit, and great that it's electric instead of gas, but I'd say the exercise of shovelling is better for you. :)

thanks - I passed this info on to my sister in Omaha.

We had a Toro gas model when I was growing up - it was a bear to get it started when it was cold.

Exercise is better but I'm lazy. :D

How lazy? Well my plan for the summer of 2011 is to buy a robot lawn mower. I'm thinking of a Lawnbott 3500. :D

When i was home over the holidays, i saw my mom had one of these, she said it was working great.

However, i can assure you of one thing: If i had one of these when i got home last weekend, it would have taken my a LOT longer to clear my drive. There was about 3 feet of piled ice at the bottom from the plows - i can almost guarantee you the ice would have stalled the motor in that thing... My big, gas powered snow blower, complete with chains on the wheels for traction, cut right through it over several slow passes, never jamming.

IMO, electric snow blowers are probably more than sufficient for a majority of the nation... but once you get up where below 0 F is the norm during the winter, the bigger the better :-p
