I really enjoy this site, I am getting a lot of very useful information. I do not mind being a "Rookie Pirus Member" but when do I graduate to a Member? Is it a time factor or amount of postings, etc?

We haven't taken the Prius out in the last 4 days because of the snow and ice up our way. We live about a mile from I-78 which was closed for almost 2 days with a 50 mile backup.

    :) Hi Tom...
... and WELCOME to PriusChat. I don't recall how many posts [seems like about 10 or 20], but after a certain number of posts you get out of the "Rookie" class... so... keep those responses, questions and posts coming!

As my Avatar and Signatures attest, I too have a Pkg 6 2007 Touring Edition Prius - traded my 2004 in last November in pursuit of new warranties, leather, side airbags, better tires and wheels, backup camera, better MFD display, etc. I've been a PriusChat participant for nearly 2½ years and found it to be a terrific resource.

Although it's not easy reading, the Owner's Manual is likewise a good resource. In my 2004 Manual and now my 2007 Manual, I made it a practice to create my own "Index" on a blank page in the back - you know, subject and page number - for items I might want to revisit or share with PriusChat forum folks.

On a completely different note (which I could bring back onto topic as a note only designed to up my number of posts).

I've noticed a prevalance for cats in member's avatars. It looks like Tom's is a cat looking out the windows, Charles, and a heapload of others have cat pictures...

I currently house 5, myself. With the odd one or two appearing and dissapearing every few years.

Oh, and I took my Prius out yesterday - Had some issues with the Traction thing, getting it up the slight incline of my 4" snow packed driveway, but 5 runs at it, and I eventually got it out :p

    Steve.

Thanks for getting back. I too have started my own index and instructions which I keep in the owners manual, especially for the bluetooh operation. I went into "Word" and started my own index which I can save on my computer.

Steve: I will have to produce a better avatar. That is my dog Willie on the inside of our window, looking at a squirrel on the outside hanging on to a bird feeder. Willie is trying to figure out how to get him.

And 500 posts will give you the option of putting whatever you want under your avatar.

Well since I have a feline avatar and am a rookie poster I guess this thread applies to me as well. There 4 down 496 to go :)

I think this is not right. 100 posts takes you from "Prius Poster" to "Senior Prius Poster." The transition from "Rookie" to "Prius Poster" happens much sooner (20 posts, maybe?).

I think it goes through this stage of avatars:

Stage one: A picture of a Prius from some website

Stage two: A picture of your Prius

Stage three: A picture of your cat

At least, that's how I did it.

Ah, I was wondering how people did that. Well, I'm slowly getting there.

But as Betelgeuse says, you lose the Rookie designation at about 20 posts (or 25?), not 100.

Sorry, we have a cat, and we're friendly towards each other, but I like the Prius better, so it's stayin on the avatar...

Yep. You become "Senior" at 100.

I was senior long before then.

Actually, I started with our cat Silver Belle (deceased) as the Prius was named Blue Belle in her honor. I changed pictures of her, had Supercar for a bit and now have another cat Boojum (also deceased) as my avatar.

The USER-GUIDE was created to alleviate that very need.

If you have noted something that you refer back to frequently that isn't in the guide, speak up. After 7 years, it's difficult now for me to identify what newbies still struggle to understand.

Thanks for the info on the User Guide. It should help a lot for reference. Toyota dealers should recommend Prius Chat to all new owners. It would definitely make their job easier.

And if they were really smart, they'd require their sales staff to visit it every once in a while.
