Yesterday while at a dealership in Brooklyn (a friend is ordering his 2010 there and I happened to be with him) his salesman told me he had heard a rumor that there is a possibility each dealership may be getting 1 2010 Prius, likely loaded to showcase new tech, sometime in March. Now it's a rumor but still, I can somewhat beleive that it could happen. I know someone who bought a 2007 Santa Fe, which was when the Santa Fe was redesigned and at that time, each dealer got one fully loaded model about 2 months before the 'official' release.

Then yesterday while looking at the Prius priority website I see now that everyone's preorder had to be submitted by the 16th there's a new message which says "All Prius Priority orders have been submitted as of February 16, 2009. If you placed an order, your Prius is being built." Your prius is being built? Like they're being built earlier than the April 20th line off date we have all heard about? Could they assemble the pre order cars and some extra to make their way to the pre-order folks and dealerships early?

Sorry to even mention this and start rumors and get some peoples hopes up but hey, ya' never know! And I'm sure if all this is not true, which it prably is not, the Prius Team will shut us up quick and set us straight right away! Lol

I lost track of time and tried ordering yesterday. The site said to call an 800 number after the 16th. I called and explained that my computer was being fixed and I was only one day late and would like to order. They gave me a firm no. Said the 16th was the cuttoff.

Yes you are right. According to our inventory manager, the build for the Pius has started. Plas be advised though, Toyota as you know is very stringent with quality. those vehicles that come off the line first are going to be checked over with a fine tooth comb before being placed on a ship to reach us here.

    Paradox,

I can't comment on the dealers displaying units (but if they arrived in March, I can tell you that they would be pre-production units like the ones on display at the Prius Connection events). Prius Priority orders have been sent into the production queue, but production has NOT started yet for 2010 Prius. We didn't want to change the website details every couple weeks, so think of the current website language as "your Prius is about to be built."

    Thanks,
    Erica from Prius Team

So Erica, I suppose that means we won't get our Prius with "some assembly required", or the ever popular "You get to put it together!" I thought maybe you would send us a kit. ;)

Where does our car use rivots? Metal skinned airplanes, perhaps, but not on our cars. Screws and welds for me, thanks!

They hold the ID plates on?
Some people rivet their numberplates on.

There are plastic pop-in rivets all over the place holding pieces together.

Right, I wasn't questioning that there WERE rivots, just more implying that key structural points and body panels are welded or screwed vs. riveted. I otherwise stand corrected :D

... along the same line: "are batteries included"? ;)
