I just got a call back from Alan Tenney at Buckhannon Toyota in Buckhannon, WV. They have just been allocated a #9 Salsa Red that is not spoken for.

I was offered it at MSRP with no market adjustment

I turned it down as it was red

Must be who you spoke with

My sales guy said they were all on the phones calling around

Fowler Toyota in Dallas is selling a Blue 9 for 29,500 (Extra Mile A and Mud Gurards) That makes $775 seem almost a bargain. If it was 4 hours or less from here, I'd have to call in sick tomorrow

well, i left it with alan that he was going to call me when he found out exactly when the car is expected. but i also said that i would have to decide whether i wanted to pay over sticker... i did not call back based on what you said above-that someone there had offered it to you without the 'market adjustment'

Offer them MSRP. Take it or leave it. This is West Virginia were talking about. If it had a pickup bed and shotgun in the rear window I'd say they could probably charge more and get it. They are just trying to take advantage of them thar city slickers.

well, that was sort of my thought so i figured i would just stick with the nice guy at another dealer in WV who says i should have my salsa #9 in july at MSRP...

i left alan my cel #. if he wants to sell it, he can call me. meantime i will just have to force myself to keep driving my 2002 buick rendezvous, not exactly a piece of junk by any means

Once again, I have to call into question that news report that said "Prius' are sitting on the lot for an average of 6 days." Unless they're including the time it takes buyers to come and pickup their cars, where exactly are these "6 day old Prii"? Even 6 hours seems like a stretch.

I believe it is taking into account the moment it becomes their inventory when a car is delivered (and then goes through prep) to the time that the new owner takes delivery.

If my deal goes well on Friday, my Prius will be in the dealers inventory for about 6 hours.
