sat radio character limits

    new 08 Prius w/pkg 5...getting dealer installed Sirius

    part # is pts31-47060

    Question is what is the character limit of this? I've heard some are 10 & some are 16. If it's 10,which one is 16?

    i do not know the character limits

    DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT

    tell the dealer you want the cheaper TOY-SC1 interface and scc1 tuner

    its a newer part and only $146 for the parts

    the dealer will probably want the $500 msrp to install the older pts31-47060 part

    The dealer unit is limited to 10 characters. Buy the Directed Electronics TOY-SC1 and SCC1 for around $150, then install them yourself. It is easy and you will save a bunch. The only difference is the Directed Electronics version has a 16 character limit and you can't use steering wheel controls for changing presets, instead it changes channels.

    1!! install either unit yourself. have done both. 2 hr max for novice. the toyota unit $260 allows all controls to work. 10 characters. having the controls work is the most important vs 10 or 16

    The only control missing would be scrolling between presets. That is hardly worth the extra money.

    really going from ch 6 to ch 75 alone in car. i like have ch's i want a click away.
