    Hey gang,

Just recently purchased Prius v Five and am curious to know when I should schedule my first maintenace appointment? 10k miles? 5k miles?

    Many thanks!

That owner's manual is a valuable resource...

Read the definition for the various use types for various oil change intervals and see where your car use falls. I change at 1k, 5k, 10k etc. I assume I fall under the severe service category because I use the car for half mile trips, stuck in traffic jam trips, high speed high temperature trips, cold weather trips, etc. I'd rather get the manufacturing residue out of the engine early. And pay a little more for oil along the way. Yes modern engines and oils are much better, I'm just a bit old school.

My last car had a 15k mile interval initially in the owners manual but the manufacturer had to lower it after folks reported failures with longer intervals even using synthetic oil.

I am going to rashly assume you are somewhere in the US, if not, I am all wrong

    Toyota says
Every 5,000 miles tire rotation- inspection
Every 10,000 miles oil and filter change
Every 30,000 miles air filter change
    Every 100,000 miles coolant change
Every 120,000 miles spark plug change

    I would add:
ATF change at 30,000 miles then every 60,000
    Brake fluid every 3 years
and consider hoses every 100,000 miles as well as coolant

I hope you find this page as useful as I do:
