    Hello all,

I changed the transaxle on my 05 Prius yesterday.

After putting everything back together, while the car was still on jack stands, I started the engine. The ICE starts and idles fine.

I put the car in drive and slowly lift my foot from the brake pedal...the passenger side wheel begins spinning, but the driver's side doesn't spin...It jerks, there are loud clunk noises and the engine begins to stall... As though something is seized.

With the car idling in park, I can manually spin the wheels. Spinning one wheel by hand causes the other wheel to spin in the opposite direction.

I double checked all my connections and I also swapped the parking lock mechanism from my original transaxle to no avail.

    Should I get another transaxle?

Turn the traction control off by putting the car in inspection mode.

With traction control engaged, your car will do what you're describing

    Thanks for the reply!

I did that, now it turns but still isn't right. I shot a video, but I can't post a proper link yet.

Why don't you set it down and drive it?

Do you think the noise may go away if I do?

I don't know but you already have it installed, drive it and see what happens

That's a good point. I won't be able to do it until tomorrow afternoon. I'll report back then. Thanks very much for your help!
