    Hi all

Bought daughters 2018 Prius Prime. After a couple of months noticed that the rear tires were bald. At the local tire shops suggestion replaced them with Sailun Erange 95H XL BSW. After about 4800 miles the Sailuns were bald!!!. Did some digging and found out that the OEM tires would have been Toyo Nanoenergy A29. Ordered them in and had them installed. Shortly thereafter had to install winter tires but I'm not convinced that I have the problem solved because in the 475 miles I put on the new Toyo's I have lost 2/32" in tread depth. Discussed this issue with a Toyota dealer service department and they say they have never heard of this problem. They checked the repair history for the car and there is no mention of any tire issues. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

Well, there's more weight in the rear of the Prime because of the larger battery, but I've not seen any comments about excessive tire wear because of that. Suggest maybe a dragging brake/s in the rear. When you stop driving, check the rear brakes for excessive heat. Have the rear brakes checked for dragging.
