While driving my beautiful blue prius (#7), I hold my head higher. My chest is as if an invisible string is pulling me forward. I am overcome with a sense of superiority as I pass other obviously inferior autos. Is this normal? Do I need to seek help? Is there a PriusChat doctor in the house? I need to know if the smile I have will wither.

 Perhaps that explains why my wife refers to my Prius as a spacecraft....

there is a Dr. in the Prius house, the infamous Dr. Fusco but he's probably sicker than you are, so consider yourself pretty normal.

In reference to the movie quotes in the thread referenced by Bookrats, I figured I'd pay hommage to one of my personal favorites:

SOLDIER #1: Halt! Who goes there?
ARTHUR: It is I, Danny, from the website of PriusChat. King of the Pritons, defeater of the Hummers, Sovereign of all Hybrid!
    SOLDIER #1: Pull the others!
ARTHUR: I am,... and these are my trusty minions. We have ridden the length and breadth of the land in search of owners who will join me in my court at PriusChat. I must speak with your lord and master.
SOLDIER #1: What? Ridden in a car?
    ARTHUR: Yes!
    SOLDIER #1: You're using batteries!
    ARTHUR: What?
SOLDIER #1: You've got two little cylinders and a stack of batt'ries. What do you do with the batt'ries?
    ARTHUR: We charge them.
SOLDIER #1: Charge them? In an automobile?
ARTHUR: The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land?
SOLDIER #1: Are you suggesting batteries power cars?
ARTHUR: Exactly! They could be regenerative.
SOLDIER #1: What? An automobile regenerating batt'ries?
ARTHUR: It could charge them with its brakes!
SOLDIER #1: It's not a question of how it charges them! It's a simple question of power ratios! A two cylinder car could not recharge a Lithium-ion batt'ry.
ARTHUR: Well, it doesn't matter. Will you go and tell your master that Danny from the Site of PriusChat is here?
SOLDIER #1: Listen. In order to maintain high voltage discharge, a Batt'ry needs to oscillate its ions forty-three times every second, right?
    ARTHUR: Please!
    SOLDIER #1: Am I right?
    ARTHUR: I'm not interested!
SOLDIER #2: It could be charged by a HumVee!
SOLDIER #1: Oh, yeah, a HumVee maybe, but not a midsized. That's my point.
SOLDIER #2: Oh, yeah, I agree with that.
ARTHUR: Will you ask your master if he wants to join my site at PriusChat?!
SOLDIER #1: But then of course a-- HumVees are non-hybrid.
    SOLDIER #2: Oh, yeah.
SOLDIER #1: So, they couldn't charge a battery anyway.
SOLDIER #2: Wait a minute! Supposing two sedans charge it together?
SOLDIER #1: No, they'd have to have it on a line.
SOLDIER #2: Well, simple! They'd just use a 20 gauge cable!
SOLDIER #1: What, fastened under the alternator?
    SOLDIER #2: Well, why not?

Yay, a Prius-ized version of Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail! That movie rocked...

There is nothing to be embarrassed about feeling proud of your beloved blue Prius. It is a beautiful car, it doesn't make you rob a bank in order to pay your gas bill every week *couch*Hummers*cough*, it is more geeky than any other car on the road (for people like me, this is a supreme compliment!), the color blue ROCKS!, and you're saving the planet buy driving it. What's not to be proud of?

    Starbug,

From your privious posts I would have taken you to be too young to know about Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I think I saw it when it first came out and the was like 7th grade and sometimes I feel oldddd!

P.S. Did you check your PM for the website to spicy condiments?

Heh, I adore Monty Python! I never saw it when it first came out (not sure when it did), but I have seen it on the Comedy Channel and either PBS or BBC. Plus, my family has a strange sense of humor, so I can't help but know about all things Monty Python. We've rented the various movies, as well as made a point to watch em when they've been on tv.

Just checked my PM, and I'm afraid I haven't received anything from you yet. Can't wait to see the website you are referring to.... *drools in anticipation*

she may be too young to remember it when it originally hit theaters, but classic movies transcends the passage of time and never really die.

after all, im too young to have been around when the Wizard of Oz was made, but that doesnt mean im not familiar with the movie...(well i should be... ive seen about 6 times!)

I'll just do it this way though it seems inappropriate for general thread stuff:

    www.atomicspecialtyfoods.com

Holy Grail first released about 1975 or 76

Great post about Prius in Monty Python. I still think it's one of the best movies ever. Just received my DVD copy of it.

    * votes for a Priusized Holy Grail Movie *

Oh, and I gave all my points to Tony for his great post! :)

I hold my head up high too, and I know my wife does. A few friends teased me about the overall shape, but who cares ... my wallet is heavier now that gas last so much longer!!!

That's because you weren't alive then, let alone watching off the wall British comedy troupes. :) 1975

Ah, Holy Grail released about '75. Wow, been around for a while, hasn't it? Such a brilliant movie. Long live Monty Python!!
