Should I be worried about buying 2013 with 68K Miles with no warranty?

Hi decided to buy another Prius yesterday to add to my Prii collection.

Talked a dealer into a what I think is a good deal:

    2013 Two
    68k Miles
    Mint
Carfax all service was done at selling dealer
    $12,800

Would like feedback on the lack of warranty on this car (exc the battery etc to 100k)

Today I am feeling it wasn't the best choice so here I am to hear opinions.

They tried to talk me into a 1300.00 extended warranty which I denied so is this considered a good deal and is this high miles and was it bad to buy this car out of any warranty? (excluding battery)

    thanks for any feedback

if you were happy with the deal its too late to change it now.. personally I would not have gone near it for over 8 grand with that many miles and no warrantee...I hope it wasn't a rental car

I think the price isn't bad at all for a 2 year old car with 68k miles. Surely you've compared prices at other dealers right? I would think they would be selling a similar car for much more.

:)I remember a year ago, someone was comtemplating buying a Gen 2 with over 240,000 miles for six thousand dollars. I agree, 68,000 miles on a 2013 is nothing. Price seems fair. You should have many trouble free years and miles ahead.

as far as what *theywhosenamesshallnotbementioned* (various sites on the internet) say, the average miles per year on a car is 12,000, so the mileage seems a little on the high side, if it was a beginning of the model year (IE: coming out 2nd half of 2012)…and higher if it was the end of the model year (coming out early/mid 2013)…that would average out between the 2 ends of the model year spectrum at 22,667 miles per year to 34,000 miles per year (give or take, as math is not one of my strong suits)…and of course miles are different, *theywhosnamesshallnotbementionedagain* say that city driving is harder on a car than highway driving (yadda yadda, babble babble blah blah)

But, like our resident cookie crumbler, Bisco just said, 68K is nothing in a Prius…mine had 55K on it when I picked it up in January.

More importantly, and a concise service record will somewhat answer the question, was the car taken care of properly by the previous owner(s)? And, was this used as a privately owned vehicle or a rental?

but, still, $12,800 for it is a relatively good deal.

No way at a dealer is there a 2013 clean Prius for 8K let alone a pvt party

I searched all over here in the Plains states here

That price of 8k at a dealer would get you a GenI/II with mucho miles on it if lucky

Yes compared many dealers in many states. There were actually 3 I narrowed down to for the same price however 2 were 2011s with 85K miles at a HIGHER price than this 2013 so I passed. The orig price was 14, 900 and I talked them down with an attitude like I didnt care, seemed to work better than being anxious, thanks for reply.

As always I respect your replies here bisco on PC, thanks much!:)

Thanks this is good news to hear!!

The car was bought at the same dealer where it was orig purchased by one owner as per carfax. The dealer shared all the maintainence records with me and everything was done on time. The person who had the car was known to my salesman and she drove it here in OKC area using mainly highways to go to work which was quite a distance hence the high miles in the 2 yrs.

Ok now I feel better from these replies, thanks all much!

that is very good…even though we bought mine at a not-Toyota dealer, I was able to pull up the service records from the Toyota dealer near our house, and it was a one-owner, local to Ohio, bought in Cleveland and serviced at the dealer where the original owner bought it.

    you didn't mention…what color?

yes those one owner cars serviced and bought at the same dealer are the best to buy IMO.

I had 3 other deals set up the same day cause I was at dealer row on either side of the interstate. The one I nearly bought was a rental with NO service records available and was 14K with 44K miles, I really wanted it but seemed a bit hazy as far as its history.

The one I bought is Silver, do not know the official color but thats what I see, lol, thanks for reply

I believe if it is a light silver, it's "Classic Silver", if it is a dark silver, it's "Winter Gray Metallic"

post pics when you can

Thats it, the light one called Classic Silver. Will take some pix tomorrow in the daylight. I think my C is the same color now that I just saw it.

    Nice deal.

You spent $5500 for 3 years of use, about $150 a month

how about my deal? was it bad?

I went into the trips and saw the previous owner drove 3000 miles a month, quite a lot, hopefully all highway

    BTW

as far as the EV mode goes (not the button)

When the car is in EV, isnt it not supposed to do that when the battery is low?
Last nite I drove 10 miles on slow roads and was all EV mostly (not complaining) but the battery was only 2-3 bars and no engine came on to charge it till I got over 40 mph

Anyways on a 10 mile trip thru 35 mph roads with some small hills, I got like 66 mpg

    Not bad!
