Should the grill of the 2004 be chrome or painted?

    Looking at buying a 2004 prius. Its used and the carfax is clean on it but I have a bit of a concern on the grill. My 06 has a chrome strip on the front grill, but this white one is painted white to match... You guys think that means its been repainted or was that offered in 2004?

    2004 & 2005 were painted. They changed to the chrome one for the 2006 model.

    do you mean the lower or upper grille? I've never seen a Prius with the lower grille painted. My 04 has the upper grille painted blue. Im actually looking for a new lower grille because mine is cracked and missing both of the foglight surrounds

    i ended up not buying it but here it is if someone else wants it:
    2004 Toyota Prius

    i went and drove it and its not clean inside... very muddy... no rips or anything just not very well maintained. i pulled the carfax on it and though its all clean, it was an enterprise rental car and that always is a turn off to me because wow, when i was young i was very hard on rental cars thinking it was fun... oh stupidity then... anyway, i have to assume in the life of this car at some point, it was probably treated some sort of the same way (hmm, hot roding in a prius... well maybe not exactly the same way)

    Yeah, I wouldn't buy a rental car. I've seen how people drive them.
