    There's the term "GGE", gallons of gas equivalent, often used
    to boil various different types of energy consumption down to
    a common reference frame. When you have events involving gas,
    diesel, natural gas, electric, wood chips, and who knows what
    else like Tour de Sol used to be, you have some really interesting
    issues trying to work up energy-used scoring.

    The 1908 Ford Model T produced 20.2 horsepower. Think of how many bales of green hay the farmers were able to save. :)
