I really don't even notice the shifter stem. The knob head will move to your desired position and stays there. So you can have the phone at whatever angle is convenient. I'm loving it.

I really like the case too. Perfect size. Logitech supposedly makes their own car mounting system for this case. Some sort of magnetic clip and also a window mount. Those might be viable options for you.

I love this simple mount....easy to use keeps the phone secure, clips to the vent, high enough to not distract from your driver's point of view....

Here is my custom mount that is an attempt to have a magnetic phone mount that is higher up on the dash than the 'Nimbus' mount...without interfering with the vents. I think it turned out great and I think it gives me the best aspects of many of the solutions in this thread. By the way, thanks everyone for all the great ideas!

I started with a Proclip Center mount :
And then I modified this magnetic mount to fit :
    • "Tackform Magneto Mini Mount Anywhere Cell Phone Mount"
The magnetic mount does not have any screw holes, but does have a foam sticker on the base. To make it more secure, I drilled two holes in the base and attached it to the Proclip mount with two screws I salvaged from an old laptop.

This functions exactly the same as the Nimbus mount but puts the phone at a much better location ( in my opinion anyway ). It also has a nice clean look.

Anyway, here are a few pics. Let me know what you think!

Edit : Oops, Just noticed I didn't get a post of the phone on the mount. Will do that soon.

Just posting an update to my post above. If any of you have a magnetic mount like mine (see above), and have an iPhone 5S, check out the "Logitech Protection" series of cases on Ebay. They are dirt cheap now. Even the battery version is going for under $10. I have been using the non-battery version for over a year and I love it.

I'm assuming this is due to the dwindling popularity of the older iPhones...but just thought I'd share in case any of you still have them.

Just search for "logitech protection iphone 5s" on ebay.

I would just get a nimbus mount instead of sticking something on the shifter. [IMG]

Ok, this setup in the cup holder is my winner!
Ordering the 'SCOSCHE MAGDMB MagicMount Universal'.
From your photo, it appears tight for also using it as a cup holder; we'll see.
    thanks for the idea.

I tried a cup mount but it is down too low for me. I like the phone up high for navigation.

BTW - the proclip center mount that I use works great, and does not really block the vents too much. Most importantly, it is NOT a vent clip....it is really solid and can hold far more that those vent clips can.
