I was at my mechanic-friend's shop today to put my Prius up in the air to install the Coastal tow hitch. He asked me to shut down the car and leave it in Neutral and I didn't know how. The book didn't seem to tell me either. Everything I did left me in Park. How can you tow this car? The front "bumper" has a plug to insert a towing bolt on the left side but I think this might be hard to do in park. If the engine were running I wouldn't need a tow!

    Any help here?

You could put it in neutral and leave it on for a fair amount of time (at least an hour) if all the accesories are off (air conditioner, light, radio, etc.). The car can be towed in park if the front tires are lifted off the ground. Anyway, as far as I know, there's no way to turn it off in neutral.
