Maybe somebody should create a mod to streamline the mirrors. Right now they are catching a lot of bugs which tells me they are not aero enough. they are catching more bugs than the front bumper.

OR.. an electronic solution: replace the mirrors entirely with small video cameras!

Agreed; I just finished reading another post, noting that reattaching the black plastic shell made a marked difference.

I sometimes hear a slight whistling noise from the sideview mirrors and, from the first time I took the car on the freeway, felt that they seem to be causing a lot of drag.

Still haven't located the source, though.

    1. You can fold them back when you drive.

    2. You can remove them altogether and replace them with small fish-eye cameras in the back corners. I'm not making that up, at Hybridfest, a guy named Bill had his Insight with that mod.

you want to talk about bad bugs... Wed i was driving home for lunch (had to let the dog out, wasn't going to be home until late that evening) with the windows down. Suddenly i hear a little smack on my right, similar to a nice, juicy bug hitting the window and feel something hit my left arm. Come to a stop sign, look down, and there's a dead fly in my lap. Apparently it was sucked into the door frame by the tight aerodynamics of the car, and was tossed across the car.
