    Hi all,
Am i just being paranoid but, if you were driving along at motorway speeds and somebody inadvertantly pressed the Parking brake button would this bring the car to a screeching halt?

    Regards
    Dave

The car will shift into neutral.

At very slow speeds the car thinks you really want to shift into park. Even a low speed shift into park is very abrupt. At higher speeds the car knows you have made a mistake and simply won't do it.

Silly followup - What if I shift to reverse while moving on the highway lets say?

Same thing - nothing happens. In some situations you can force a shift into N, but you can't do anything damaging. Pressing and holding the power button is an example.

just to be crystal clear, there is a "parking brake" and a "park button" - we all assume you are talking about the button

Silly response, strap the 6 year old in the rear, in a car seat where it belongs, don't push buttons while driving.....
