This may sound completely silly, but a quick googling did not help me much.
When you purchase a warranty- lets say 10 years, 100,000 miles. Is the ten years from the time you purchase the warranty/car or 10 years from the cars model year?

    Thanks in advance!

It's usually 10 years from when the car is originally put in service.

call your dealer with the vin, they'll be happy to tell you your "in-service date"

we brought our 2004 corolla in a few days after the warranty expired for something that would cost $500+ (parts & labor). Since we have owned 10 toyotas over the years we had no problem getting it covered, you may not be so lucky, especially in this economy.
