    New Prius owner here!

Our week or so old 2010 Prius 3 has the light with the car and the slippery lines behind it coming on. No buzzer. No ice or snow. Cold morning (for Northern VA.) Went off after a few minutes.

    Should we be concerned?

    Thanks!

When stopped, if you press brake pedal hard enough, car goes to hill start mode. It’s normal.

I thought the car beeped when you put it into hillstart mode? At least, I think I recall it doing that before.

Hill start mode is when you are at a stop and press the brake pedal all the way down. It keeps the brakes activated about 2 or 3 additional seconds to prevent the car from rolling slightly backwards when on a steep incline before you press the accelerator pedal.

^ Correct. One beep when engaged, two when released.

Not to mention, the hill start would not keep the light on "for a few minutes". It goes out when it disengages. Not sure why your light stayed on for that time period. If it continues to do it, I'd recommend taking it to the dealer. Not that they're likely to figure out the cause unless the light is still on, though.

Do remember the Prius can put down a lot of torque from a start. It's possible there was frost on the road and the wheels did try to spin up.
