Smart Key System for My House

    So thanks to SKS, I never need to take my keys out of my pocket... until I get home. Wouldn't it be great if someone built SKS into a front door lock?

    I am almost keyless... At work we use swipe cards, and at home I have a keypad code lock on the front door. I think it's the best since sliced bread... when I broke up with my last girlfriend, just changed the code!

    There are two downsides:

    1. It's noisy, sounding like someone's using a power drill while opening the door.

    2. It's battery operated, so there's some risk of being locked out if the low battery alarm somehow didn't go off before they died.

    To make sure I can still get in even if the batteries die, I have a key in a "Supra" combination box hidden away:

    I have moved to combination locks for bicycle and other valuables. The only normal key I carry with me is the mailbox key.
