There’s a lot of people who bought an android unit and the buttons take a second to respond and UI is super slow when transitioning

Yes, that is why I bought the high performance alternative: 2.7 GHz Octa-core with 12Gb RAM. It has more power than my current phone

Update! After ordering I got an email from seller saying my unit was not in stock in Europe and they had to order from China. It was going to take 2 weeks and then they needed 1 week for testing before shipping to me. They gave me the option to cancel the order which I did not do.
After a week or so I got a tracking number for DHL that did not update for yet another week. Then the package started moving from Germany to Sweden where I live. Got it yesterday and I was very excited. The box looked a bit banged up but not too bad. Opened it only to find contents was a ghillie suit :confused: No stereo in sight... Mega bummer! So I took some pictures and emailed the seller.
    Currently waiting for a response.

Have a nice weekend guys! :D

They replied now that they will investigate but they will also send a new one directly.

Looks nice. Let us know how you like it, hopefully not too much longer.

I just bought an 9" Ekiy T7 unit for my C, should be here by the end of the month. It is supposed to come plug and play, with the harness built and full dash panel for an oem install look. They have it as a regular double din install too. They also have the 360 bird eye cams that I'm looking forward to using. $300 all in, should be a nice tech refresh for a ten year old car.

Another that is well reviewed is from Atoto, they have a 360 setup that only needs one camera that would make install a bit easier. It's a universal head unit and I wasn't finding any good dash kits for my car to get the clean look I want, and their system would've been about $100 more. Atoto also has a couple Linux units that will do SiriusXM if that's needed, and they're cheaper, the Android units won't do satellite.

For anyone looking there's a handful of companies that have good reputations for the Android units, and so, so many scammy sellers. A lot of them have been found to spoof the specks to make the units show better than actual hardware or software. Most of the legit units will be running Android 10, one or two companies have a unit running Android 12, if you see claims of newer software be sceptical and look deeper into it. XDA has some good info about uncovering the scam stuff.

They're are several nice units available for typical single/double din, or with specific kits to give the oem look and simple plug and play installs. Joying, Atoto, Teyes, Ekiy, and a couple others that slip my mind seem to keep a good reputation.

The package finally came! And this time there was a head unit inside and not a piece of clothing :D. The plastic frame has the wrong color which is disappointing since I provided a photo of mine when ordering. Hopefully they will send me the correct one when I tell them. Everything else seems to be correct. I'll begin the install tomorrow. More details to follow. IMG_20241016_195115.jpg

Sorry about the delay. I got sick and then had to catch up on work. Anyway I have installed the unit. Connecting all the cables was no problem. There were lots of other problems thou  The biggest one being a very strange behavior of the volume control. There are two volume controls (for lack of better term). One is the Android control and the other can be found in an app called "Car settings" and "Amplifier settings". When I increase the Android volume the other one increases too, 1:1. So far so good. But then when I decrease the Android volume, the other keeps increasing for 8 steps before it starts decreasing. So when the Android volume is at zero the other one is at some value larger than 0 and I can't lower it any more using the steering wheel buttons (or the volume control in Android. But there is still music coming from the speakers). I have got to go in to the "car settings" > "amplifier settings" and lower that to 0.
So every time I increase the volume and then decrease it, the lowest system output will be higher then the time before. Also the first 8 presses on volume down actually increases the system output because the "Amplifier settings" volume has more "weight" then the Android one.
I've reached out to the supplier and he's looking in to it but nothing has come of it so far.

Also the frame does not fit because one of the mounting "ears" are too big so it is interfering with the Prius panels. I think this is an easy fix, I can just cut the frame a bit.

The DVR camera was not working but I just had to install the app located on the memory card of the camera.
The sound from my speakers was terrible. Distorted. But I fixed so now it sounds great. In the Android settings and the sub menu "Sound" there is a setting for "Amplifier condit". I think this is the strength of the audio output to the JBL amplifier and has to be tuned just right.

There is a very good looking app where I can tune the sound with an equalizer and lots of other settings. Unfortunately when setting the fader to send music to the rear speakers all the speakers go quiet. If I set the fader to 0 then there is sound in both the front and rear speakers. The funny this is that if I leave that app and just go in to the settings there is another fader that works perfectly :ROFLMAO:

I haven't gotten around installing more interesting apps because if that volume control issue can't be fixed then I want to send it back.

It has been fixed! Their support got back to me and the problem was that the wrong CAN protocol was selected. For the 2012 Prius I'm supposed to use RZC(Raise)>Toyota>Camry>2018. Now the volume control works fine!
