I'm thinking if I remove the screw, put a larger washer on the outside, then replace the screw it will hold. Any other ideas on a cheap fix?

This is why I would love to get a camera in the front:embarassed:

sounds like a plausible solution to me.

Agree that is worth the try - should work. Use one that is meant for outdoor use and will not rust.

    Good luck:)

Remember, dissimilar metals have a high potential for corrosion. So don't just get the cheapest washer.

Ask for a fender washer. Most washers are fairly small from the hole to the outer edge. A fender washer has a much wider area. I think this is what you meant; it's called a fender washer.

Thanks Bill. Anything that helps me from sounding like a complete ID 10T helps.

Sorry to hear about the minor damage. +1 on a larger washer and you can probably be able to use the same bolt. Good Luck.

looks like a scramjet scoop! Im afraid to look under the car at mine as I always seem to scrape those parking space curb things.

You could also replace the thing with a BT skid plate.

That was the same thought I had while reading this thread, then you beat me to it. I keep a small can of various fender washers around for all kinds of things. They really help if you have to screw something into soft wood too.

Oh, one more thing. Take the bolt with you so you get one with the right sized hole. If you only get one it should cost less than a quarter.
