Software update = easier for trolls to find us?

A pat on the back to the Admins for handling them so quickly.

Also, I discovered the Report a Post button - that "Danger" sign in the upper right-hand corner of a post.

 

Is there a quick link to report trollish or otherwise suspicious posts like the old software had? Or do you have to PM one or more mods to report them?

For the most part they're not really even trolling though, just flaming. A first-post flame is pretty easy to spot and report.

 

Given that registration involves decoding a captcha image, would
it be safe to assume that a human is manually driving every
bogus signup? Or have they learned to automate decoding the
images as part of the ongoing arms race?

Are they coming through recognizable IP netblocks, or bouncing
through random proxies?

Does registration require an email confirmation cycle to test
the validity of the address, or just let the new applicant right
on if they verify the image? Requiring the email loop might help
cut some of the crap...

Tee-hee. The folks at chitownracing.com are annoyed we banninated them so quickly. They're also annoyed we're not going in there and stooping to their level. They're also annoyed they're getting IP banned (although they have discovered proxies to get around that).

And note: It's the admins there who suggested their little troll party in the first place, so contacting them of course was counter-productive.

 

"Not the brightest bunch" does sum it up well. Retaliation of any kind would be pointless, but I don't think we have to worry about PC members doing so. That's the response they were hoping to evoke, I think, but it's a wildly different mind-set between our two camps and the tactics they used are really only effective against their own kind.

It is fun to imagine trying to apply OUR logic to flaming them, the way they applied THEIR logic to flaming us. Here's a sample:

Me (registered on their site as "Luv4Peace"): Hey guys! I think you're doing a terrific job flaming us. We were pretty hurt by comments about our weak cars, the hybrid-premium we paid, and the amount of environmental damage we're doing as compared to a Hummer. Can you give us some pointers in good tactics for flaming you back? I'd really prefer a cost-benefit analysis of different attack approaches, likelihood of getting banned within my first 10 posts, and some user-experience reports before I begin my attack though. Thanks for the help, and PEACE OUT!

 

I read through all 7 pages of the topic "TIME TO HAVE SOME FUN WITH THE PRIUS OWNERSs!!!!" and found it to be pretty funny. They think they are so bad and cool to come over here to bash us when in fact they just made asses of themselves. They thought they would take us over for a few weeks and when they found they got banned as quickly as they registered they went home crying to their mommies. They also started crying about how none of us will stoop their level and go over to their site and start a flame war. I thought it was pathetic. Just goes to show dumb asses will always be dumb asses.

It’s sad that the forum admin would be the one that encouraged the whole thing. The admin of that forum is nothing but scum.

What about adding a gay porn forum so the trolls have something to look at while their here? Because you know they are all obsessed with gay people. Might was well give them what they want. Or at least pont them to a real gay site.
