    Interesting. If this is for real, it could have pretty big implications for hybrids, one would think.

    The article also claims 90% greater efficiency. This would be both impressive and significant. That alone would be pay dividends in weight and volume savings, etc.

    As always, innovation happens because the market demands it. The only thing we don't know is whose names will be on the patents. The country that innovates best will assume technological leadership. It may ro may not be too late for the US to share in that leadership. I hope it isn't.

    The altairnano already claims better life times than that. I wonder why none of the hybrids use them. Evey if it is 2-3 times costler than regular lithium ion, its ability to deep discharge without affecting life time should let the cars use a a smaller battery, offsetting the cost.
