Any one got a dealer recommendation for having SSC 40D preformed?

I haven't received a recall notice so I can't really help with specifics.

Koons Tysons Toyota has done alright by me so far. They do a lot of volume so they've certainly had some experience with Prii and they're well organized -- you can even make a service appointment online. They also have some "work" cubes where you can plug in a notebook if you experience an irresistible urge to get some work done. I usually dismiss those urges so I couldn't tell you if they have broadband connections or dial-up. My first couple of oil changes I was in there and out again in about half an hour but the last time took a bit longer; I attribute that to an appointment later in the morning. Apparently the schedule actually starts about an hour earlier than what is shown online so phoning in the appointment gives you an advantage.

I spoke too soon -- I just got my "SSC" letter in the mail this week. It doesn't seem terribly urgent so I'm thinking of waiting to combine it with my next oil change.

Does any who has had it done know how long it should take? The letter says about an hour but I think I remember someone on PC saying it took 5 hours. I can wait for an hour but for 5 I need to find a ride in to the office.

I just got the SSC 40D work done this morning at Koons Tysons Toyota. It took about an hour to actually get my car in the bay and about another hour for the work. I also got a chance to meet another Prius owner who was also in for the same service; I turned him on to PC.

I'm glad I wasn't the first in line for the work; the service rep told me that due to some problem with a cable they had fried the ECU's on a couple of Prii before me and were still waiting for replacement parts -- yikes! I hope they weren't anyone on the board.

I had mine done this week at Toyota of Glenn Burnie, MD (one of the Brown's dealerships). They told me it usually takes an hour but plan on an hour and a half because sometimes there are issues. I was out of the dealership an hour after I drove in.

Just had mine done today at Koons Tysons along with the 10k service & tire rotation. Went smoothly and took the estimated time of 2 hours almost on the dot.

Mine was done at Darcar Silver Spring. Had the 5K at the same time. No issues. It took a while though, because it was crowded, and also because I asked them to check the Guess Gauge and the Info-button display toggle issues at the same time.

    What a coincidence

We must have just missed each other. We could have had a mini meetup at Koons.

Say, I wonder if Koons would be willing to give a little face time with one of their Prius specialists? They might if enough of us were interested and I think Koons might be a good one to do it since I'm pretty sure they sell more Prii than anyone else around.

That would be very cool, and I'm pretty sure you're right about sales there - just yesterday I saw 3 brand new 04's - 2 white, one tan, being prepped and getting ready.

I'd certainly be interested in having a bit of a chat with a Prius tech to find out some more info!
