    Today we installed a PAC SWI in a Gen2 Prius (non JBL factory) setup with a Sony HU.

    It took more time to figure out the steering wheel control wiring/programming than to install the radio itself.

    Here are my notes;
    Set PAC rotary switch to appropriate aftermarket radio (7 for Sony)

    Behind factory radio is a small Toyota connector with 20 pin positions but only 5 wires installed.
    This connector is for steering wheel and climate control integration.
    The wires are;
    10-White, 9-Pink, 8-White, 7-Black, 6-Red
    Check if anything that came with your radio kit mates with the connector, if not, you'll have to tap into the 5 wires.

    Hook up one black wire from PAC to wire 6-Red at the small Toyota connector. (T tap, Posi-Tap or similar)
    Hook up White wire from PAC to wire 7-Black at small Toyota connector. (T tap or similar)
    Hook up White/Black wire from PAC to 8-White at small Toyota connector (T tap or similar)

    Add 68 ohm resistor between 10-White and 9-Pink. Resistor should have come with dash kit.
    This resistor is so climate controls will still work on touchscreen.

    Hook up Red wire from PAC to red wire on main aftermarket radio harness with T-Tap or similar
    Hook up otherblack wire from PAC to black wire on main aftermarket radio harness with T-Tap
    For AM Radio to work best, hook up Long blue wire from harness adaptor kit (70-1761) to red wire on same harness kit T-tap or similar

    Plug the male jack "headphone" jack from PAC to the Steering wheel control input on the Head Unit.

    Press the programming button on the PAC, turn car on hold button until LED is solid. Let go, press 8 times. Watch LED, it should confirm 8 blinks (this tells PAC you are hooked up to a Toyota).

    If steering wheel buttons don't work on your radio, you'll have to follow the PAC procedure to map the appropriate steering wheel buttons volume up, volume down, mode, track forward, track reverse etc to PAC software. See Step 7 on this guide;

    I bought my 2006 with an aftermarket pioneer installed. The steering wheel controls only work at times, after a few times pressing the volume button on the steering wheel, it will stop responding. Would you think that's something that will happen to your set up too?

    best to buy an adapter harness, so that you don't need to use t-taps or otherwise hack up your factory wiring. solder and shrink wrap all the splices from the head unit to the adapter harness, and then it just plugs right in to the factory connectors.

    Yes, this harness adaptor would make a much cleaner installation. It comes with some of the Scoshe trim panel kits and includes the climate control resistor pre-wired.
