    Hi guys,
I'm a prius owner in Thailand. This is my first thread on priuschat. so hello everyone!!
    (sorry for my bad English.)

I have some question about a strange noise when braking
please listen at 0.45, 0.53 seconds in the video.

It happened about a year ago when it's 100,000 km on odometer (now it's 130,000km and the noise is getting a bit louder)

toyota dealer in my area used to check the brake system and changed the brake fluid and brake pads but did not solve the problem.
They want to check the entire brake system which took 2-3 days and possibly cause 2-3,000$ for a repair
so I decided to try to find a less expensive solution first.

Do you have any ides what noise is it?
    Thank you.

Good video, can definitely hear something strange at those two points. Hope you get it sorted.

I think you need to pull the wheels off and take a good look at the brakes. Maybe something got stuck in there or broke loose. Any good mechanic should be able to diagnose this problem.

If the dealership is saying $2~3,000, they're probably thinking it's the master cylinder, something around there.

There's another expensive thing, I think called the brake actuator assembly. If one of those goes bad, it's better to get a used one from a wrecking yard.

I'll take my car to a dealership next week and let them find out the problem. Hope it will be fixed before Christmas

Hybrid cars is not famous my country (due to its high price and lack support from government. for example, the price of a prius is around $42k)
so i don't have much option for a used parts, only have to repair at toyota dealer.

It would be a good idea to explore if Toyota uses those parts on other models, such as Camry. The Prius engine is used on other Toyota models, for instance.
