Early last week (Tuesday, Sept. 27), I was waiting on a train and to pass time, I walked into a tire store, which is part of a very large "chain."

Of course, they also sell batteries, so I wandered over to a rack of various batteries, which were mostly their own private label brand, but also a fair number of Optima Yellow Tops, including one with a sticker that read 10/16. o_O

Hmm, it's still September. That was the only battery on the rack with an October date. Wonder how long it had been on the rack :D

Maybe an aftermarket date label, applied by the store. When I got my Optima there was no date label. I think all the battery manufacturers are cagey about that, there is a date embedded in the numbers, but you need to contact them to get it translated.
