Recently (5-6) months my Gen II has been making some weird sound when I turn it on before the ICE starts. Also when I turn it off after the ICE shuts down. I really don't know how to describe the sound so I took some clips of it. Sort of a high pitched grind maybe? Car has 45xxx, just had the Hybrid water pumped replaced.

The noise probably is from the engine coolant heat recovery system pump which is located in the LF wheel well in front of the tire.

Is the sound something I should worry about?

If your car doesn't show any warning lights then don't worry.

However, if your car is less than 5 years old/60K miles then you can try to get a CHRS pump replacement under the powertrain warranty. Do a search for T-SB-0087-08 if you would like to find the TSB that provides more info.
