    This guy is UNBELIEABLE!!!!!

Phil Leslie was a prize-winning stunt pilot (now retired).

Here is the attached video of a performance by another stunt pilot who is, in real life a Delta Airlines pilot. His act at Air Shows is to pretend that he is a drunken spectator who rushes from the stands and jumps in a Piper Cub and takes off without any understanding of how to fly a plane.

The Piper Cub is actually specifically built to withstand enormous stress and has a very powerful engine.
Phil advises that this is actually the most dangerous of Air Show acts because of the low altitude at which the pilot performs. Phil points out that this pilot possesses unbelievable skill, which becomes obvious in the attached video. [IMG]

How does the Piper Cub compare to the aerobatic planes used in competition like the Red Bull Air Race like the Edge 540 and the MXS-R?

That was a great vidieo! It reminds me of the act that they do at The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome close to Kingston,Ny. when they put on Airshows in the summer with WWI airplanes. Before the show starts this drunk guy from the crowd starts complaining he never got his airplane ride he was promised. So they give him his ride in a yellow J-3 Cub. People not familiar with a J-3 don't think anything of it when he sits on the back seat while the "pilot" props the airplane. Well when the engine starts the suppose drunk guy steals the plane before the pilot has a chance to jump in, well he does a similar routine to the above vidieo then at the end he supposadly runs out of gas, he shuts the engine off lands dead stick at stops at the exact spot he left from.
