my 2006 prius had not been driven in a month. it started up right away. i drove it about 1/2 mile when suddenly it shut off. there were no warning lights. it would not even try to start again. i checked the battery cells and they are fine. any suggestions as to what may be wrong?

First step is your 12v battery... Spend ~$10 on a cheap 12v trickle charger to hopefully get you battery up to 13.8v, which is max charge for most cheap trickle chargers. If your battery has a hard time holding that charge you may need a new 12v, but don't buy an Optima battery they're not real batteries. And if that's the kind of battery you have, then that's the problem.

You probably have a failed inverter pump. Check the fuse AM2, it's located in the engine compartment fuses.

If that fuse is blown, then you have shorted out he inverter pump (common issue). Replace the pump and then replace the fuse.
