Just some factory accessories this round. After this I'm going to stop, and save up for some leather seat covers :).

I've always hated to have the garage door opens clipped onto the sun visors. And I always like to keep the interior as clean and original as possible, and since I've come to enjoy the benefit of auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink remote in three of my previous cars, I just can't go without it this time.

I ended up buying the mirror from Toyota, but sure these are just common auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink as these look exactly like the one I have in my Subaru. The key is really know which wire to tap into and how to remove trim pieces and run the wire nicely and out of the way of any airbags. It took me about 30 minutes to complete.

Pretty happy about it. I still have the instruction paper from Toyota so if anyone is interested in finding out how Toyota wants you to run the wire, or wonder exactly where the trim tabs are so you don't break any, I can share.

    The result:

Nothing spectacular, just a factory auto-dimming mirror with HomeLink remote. If you have the Advanced model you would've had this come with your car anyway...

Mod 5 was the lower door molding. I've made a big mistake in ordering the wrong one. I ended up with a regular Prius in chrome that reads "Hybrid" instead of "Plug-in Hybrid". Oh well, since I bought it off eBay and I can't exactly return it, I'll live with it. Install was a piece of cake, as it was just a bunch of stickers and stick them on the door. Still look rather nice IMO.

Before and After, I think it looks a lot better...

Can you post the Toyo instructions for the Home Link kit please?
I kept my home Link rear view mirror from my former 2004 when it was called "total" by the Insurance Co.
I would like to install it in the PiP.

Now, how about modding the mirror itself by installing a second light sensor ABOVE the mirror and "or-ing" the two, eliminating the dreaded "shadow of the spoiler" from blocking a car's headlights and blinding you when they bob up and down. Toyota should have corrected this from the Gen II era.

You know what gallde, I never thought of it but now that you mentioned it, I do recall this problem with my Gen II. Haven't ran into this problem yet but that's only because I haven't been driving it at night. :p

Sure thing. I actually saw your post yesterday but I couldn't find the paperwork last night. I'm hoping my lovely wife didn't threw it out (yesterday was recycling day too :( ...)

Sorry guys, confirmed with wifey that the instructions are gone... :( I can still take pictures of the wire tap points, maybe that will help?

There are lower door moldings that are specific to the plug-in. Is there a reason why you went with just he hybrid version instead?

Haha, Yup! I goofed up. I saw the price on ebay and I just went click click click too fast... LOL. I ended up buying another set (yes, this time I checked to make sure it is for the Plug-in) :D

So I guess I'll have the Hybrid one for sale soon, hopefully someone can still use them :p
