Are you guys aware that Toyota is recommending OW-20 oil for the 2010 Prius?

Though I'm not sure about the weight of the oil, Doug made it a point to indicate the synthetic oil would boost the overall fuel economy of the 2010.

Yes we are. Oil cap states 0W-20 (synthetic) or 5W-20 (dino juice). This is going to be a new standard in many vehicles, so Toyota asserts that the price of this oil should come down as greater stocks become available.

This car is also going to have a cartridge-based oil filter which is a slight departure from the self-contained filters. I'd guess there's less disposable metal in this design, making for a cheaper part.

Wow, didn't know that. No wonder we couldn't find it at PCD. Do you know if it will be easier to change the filter?

I've seen the Mobil 1 (which is synthetic) in 0w20 at Walmart in those 5 quart containers... So it is easy to get and it was affordable, but I did forget the exact price.
