I think, generally speaking, that dealers don't know what's coming until it shows up. I don't see how they could know "yours is on the boat". Everytime I call my dealer I get another pep talk on how great the car is and why I should not give up waiting.

yeah. reading here leads me to think you're right. he doesn't know and is just making stuff up. hope i'm wrng... 'cause having done tech support for custoemes, i learned that this is never a good idea. makes customers wanna :guns: which is usually considered a sub-optimal outcome for most reputable businesses

    time will tell.

Latest update.... Dealer says.... well gee we don't know where your car is.
The dat to land has changed to all 9s and we THINK that means it's in the US but we don't understand why it's taking so long (23 Feb to 3 March) to
make it from LA to SJ.

to make it even more entertaining.... "i understand you really want your car and i'll take care of you. did you know there's a price increase on the
Prius that just came through? i'll take care of you...." :pukeright:

    yeah right!

    Just an update....

6 Prii came in this week. none of them mine.
still no explanation as to why I had a arrival date and temp vin
but car disappeared. no way to track, or process to find out when
data can become available or when i get matched to a car.

waiting in a vaccum is ever so much fun.... at least i'm in good company.

    Waiting is over.
I'm now a Prius Owner (well me and the bank).
Total wait time approx 14 weeks.

Car is the option pack I wanted, but not one of my color choices. They
basically said 2 weeks ago that they had earned extra allotment and had
a gold AM pack unclaimed I could have. I jumped on it. I'm hoping it
was one that someone else in the area canceled out on and not I that I bumped someone else.

Dealer was very embarrassed at delays... Playeda voice mail he received
today indicating the car he was selling me should arrive at his lot today.
FUnny thing was, it was deliverd on Monday so he already had it in hand...
So the JIT software may need more tweaking.

Finance guy was a kick... he went throught the whole extended warranty
lowjack, vin etch, granitization, service contract bit low key and factual.
Didn't contradict the group wisdom in the slightest.

Absolute blast stealthing through the neighborhood on my way home.
Now all I have to do is get used to the keyless smart stuff... Everyone should have such worries...
