i went to see the movie Team America yesterday with my son. several times they have the Alec Baldwin puppet, in his position as head of the Film Actor's Guild (F.A.G.) say something to the effect that we all need to buy a hybrid car and do some other fiendishly liberal stuff...

the movie was very funny, but i don't know if i should be insulted or what?

Look at it this way, the same people that made that movie, produce South Park. Their purpose is to insult everyone, and everything, and laugh at it in the process.

agreed. i posted in my blog that if you don't like south park, you probably won't like this movie, and vice versa...

i laughed out loud at many parts of it, but some of it was 'over the top' in that '15 year old male' sort of way, which was interesting because my son is 17 and he didn't really like it...

I was pretty disappointed with Team America (though I laughed at the hybrid cars bit.)

I really enjoyed the South Park Movie; probably the best send-ups of musicals I've ever seen. But Team America seemed to be lacking in the sort of wit and satire that the former show had.

In short, I didn't find it particularly clever. I didn't mind that it went after anyone -- as Wolfman says, these guys play no favorites; I just wished they'd come up with funnier, more biting stuff. Jokes on the level of "F.A.G." are right about at the 10-year-old poo-poo level. (Plus, the Kim Il Jung song seemed like a very derivative version of the Saddam Hussein song from South Park Movie.

(I did think the scene with the "den of the black panthers" was hilarious, though.)

I think the soundtrack provided the most laughs for me.

    PEARL HARBOR
    Pearl Harbor
I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark
    when he made Pearl Harbor.

I miss you more than that movie missed the point
and that's a lot girl. And now, now you've gone away
and all I'm trying to say is Pearl Harbor sucked
    and I miss you.

I need you like Ben Affleck needs acting school.
He was terrible in that film.
I need you more than Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part.
He's way better than Ben Affleck and now,
all I'm trying to say is Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you.

Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies.
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked just a little bit more than
    I miss you.

They could have done a lot more with the movie, but there were some very funny parts. I think that the panthers were the best. Or maybe Matt Damon's moving portrayal of himself.
