I've been doing some reading on terra pass and I think I'm missing something.

It appears that what they are doing is purchasing the "REC" (renewable energy credits) with 33% of the funds.

How is purchasing these credits helping develop new projects?

It seems like a better plan would be to buy land, convert it to grass land then offer land use to wind farm developers who pay for taxes and upkeep of the land and allow sustainable farm use of land once it has been restored to what it was like prior to industrial farming.

Or am I missing what the purpose of the REC is?

Why do they need to be for profit? The answer in their FAQ doesn't convince me.

Chogan et al looking into these schemes and they seem to largely be shite. Mostly just hollow feel good stuff. There are much better ways to reduce your footprint.
