    Breaking news.

Perhaps not a coverup - as far as incidents go this one is pretty everyday, with no fatalities, so perhaps the media can be excused their paltry coverage.

If the gunman (men?) are ever found and they turn out to be just another pack of gang members out terrorizing the neighborhood, this story will die a quiet, unremarked death.

But if the gunman (men?) are ever found and turn to be Muslim, this could billow out into the media sensation of 2007.

All of which is to say (1) our fears of terrorism are ridiculously overblown and (2) terrorism isn't the act so much as WHO does it.

Attached is an article from this month's Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists on this very point.

The word "terrorist" is being thrown around a lot by the media.. This doesn't sound like terrorism to me, more like some gang crap.

Use some common sense, MARK, when is the last time you heard of Muslim terrorists doing drive-by shootings in California?

So, you're probably right.. this story will fade just like every other gang attack. If it were an attack from Muslim terrorists, that would mean we are now being attacked on our own SOIL again.. by Muslim fundamentalists. Then people like you can go running and hollaring how Bush sucks for not protecting us.

But if the gunmen were to fly commercial airliners into buildings, and it not make the news, then I would grant it being a cover-up. Even if the gunmen didn't fly airplanes into buildings, but managed to kill 2,973 innocent people on that day, and it still didn't make the news . . . yep, cover-up.

So, since you personally were not one of the “one out of every 94,517 Americans†who were killed in a terrorist attack on September 11th, that means there is nothing to fear except fear itself?????

In your lifetime, you are less likely to die from:
    A dog bite . . . 1 in 117,127
    A flood . . . . . . 1 in 144,156
    An Earthquake . . 1 in 117,127
    http://www.nsc.org/lrs/statinfo/odds.htm

So should we just forget about those dangers too?

And if Al Qaeda lights off a nuclear bomb in an American city, your chances go way up. Being that the San Francisco Bay Area is probably a ripe target on their hit list - being the den of iniquity it is - yeah, nothing to worry about. ;)

“Nothing to worry about here folks, move along . . . it's all just some sort of little misunderstanding . . . it'll never happen again.â€

What a stupid premise for an article, and a FHOP thread.

MARK is just trying to defend the enemy.. He is trying to marginalize their threat and teach complacency..

Typical liberal behavior.. "Negotiate" with the enemy.. Because.. you know, it's probably "our fault" that they're made at us anyway.
