Well more bad news for Tesla! Seems they allegedly stole designs and patents from another start up truck company Nikola Motors.

And we know you have an unhealthy appetite for bad news when it relates to Tesla. Smells frivolous.

Since you can't be bothered to post a link to a source with details, it might as well be.

Perhaps you should have been the one to start this thread.

Here's one article, Nikola Motors sues Tesla for $2 billion over alleged design-patent infringement | Ars Technica

The details of Nikola's complaint boil down to Tesla's semi looks like theirs. I like several comments to the article, but this one by Flunk sums it up thusly, "Good luck, design patents require the products to be near indistinguishable. Add the fact that they both look quite a lot like a conventional semi (that melted in the sun) and that aerodynamics only work one way they don't have a leg to stand on."

I saw it on my news feed when it broke but forgot about it as the subject didn't really interest me enough to go to the trouble to post.

But what if It is true? Should Tesla not be held accountable. They certainly have very similar looks. Chinese firms are being held accountable for similar designs of others.

The sources I check that regularlly crow about Tesla's cash problems had no mention of this.
Regardless of whether everyone seen it, if you want to start a thread about it, not including a link, or even enough details to start a discussion, is rude.
And if Peterbuilt made an ICE model that maximized aerodynamics to such an extent, it would look just as similar. Just like mid-size sedans are all similar.

For Nikola to win, they have to show that Tesla's design isn't just similar, but close enough to deceive a potential buyer into thinking the Tesla truck is a Nikola. Which is what those Chinese products are trying to do; I've seen such gauges that look just like a ScangaugeII.

Someone on the street is as likely to confuse those two designs as the same as they are a Camry and a Fusion.

Apple got a jury to uphold their patent on a thin rectangular form factor for a phone. Stupid case or stupid jury?

Personally, I don't think Nicola has a case and less chance of Tesla lasting long enough for it to go to trial.

Is the Tesla version street legal? I thought the wheels have to be exposed.

If Tesla won't last long enough, neither will Nikola.

Only in the US. In the jurisdiction that doesn't allow the patenting of everything, Samsung won.

If so, Nicola, assuming they are still around, would just sue whoever scoops up Tesla.

    Why? For inspections?

The cover is removable. the leading edge of it can be seen better here.

Most of my Tesla news sources barely covered this because it is blatantly frivolous and the definition of patent trolling. Next!

It does not matter at all, Tesla is short lived, per the fake news!
