bought a used 2005 prius 8 months ago. what is apparently the anti skid computer warning light is on and off intermittently. If this computer is faulty/not functioning, how is the car's performance effected. Does the car lose normal braking ability? I cannot feel any difference whether the dash lite is on or off...

    thanks, Bill

It really depends on what's going on. Usually when the warning light is on, that means that most/all advanced braking functions are offline, such as ABS, traction control, and vehicle stability control. You can test this by finding a gravel/dirt road when the light is on, and seeing if you can lock up the wheels with a low speed panic stop.

You could get the codes read at an auto parts store and report back if you would like further information.

What is the condition of your tires? Do they have plenty of tread or are they worn?
