I've skimmed the PDF, however just to let everyone know, look for the blue PDF links. They work and take you to a public web site where you can put in your VIN number and get a list of services that are necessary. Very helpful and very cool!

It is not so cool that some of us have to have our cars serviced for this, however I'm glad that Toyota is taking care of this up front.

Does anyone know if this recall will affect the MPG? I have heard of people getting their ECU flashed and they lost about 3 to 4 MPG because of it.

Thanks for the link, nate, :) . I left early today and hadn't found it yet to browse over. I am on vacation next week,so I hope the dealer can make it without me. I seem to be the one everybody comes to with problems, especially if it concerns Prius questions ( there are 3 other Prius techs, but they don't have the experience/time I have had with them ).

Strange... My VIN doesn't appear in the list, but when I put it in on the web site I get this:

VIN JTDKB20U350XXXXXX requires the following repair(s).
    Engine ECM reflash
    HV ECM reflash
    Install connector grease

The doc says that not all VINs in those ranges are affected by this SSC. My VIN is not in the ranges listed but the web site says the SSC applies. Seems like that list of VINs isn't worth much.

if your from Canada don't bother entering your VIN on the site as it say's it's not a valid VIN. That's not unusual and Toyota Customer Service won't be able to tell you either. Once again we'll have to wait for about 3 months to have this work thru Toyota Canada's system.

Same here. My VIN does not fall within the stated ranges, yet the website says the SSC applies. I called the Toyota customer service 800 number earlier today and a helpful gentleman named Mike said it was not part of the voluntary recall.

When I put my VIN in , it says "Not a valid VIN" which I assume means it does not apply???

Okay, I'm an idiot, I should read the SSC first... it's the M5
connector, on the front of the transaxle. But why not treat all
the other connectors into the transaxle at the same time, since
they're similar and would like present the same water-intrusion
problem?? Why, for that matter, does the transaxle design have
little connectors stuck all over it in random places like this,
rather than, say, one or two big ones up near the top [more out of
harm's way on wet days] with the resolver and temp-sensor wiring
run around *inside* a more sealed housing?
    .
Given the weather in the northeast for the past week, it's making me
    more paranoid about hitting puddles...
    .

    Bueller? Bueller?....Anyone? Anyone??

I realize having a car the performs as expect is more important than losing MPG, but I'm curious. Any hear about a decrease in MPG when flashing the ECU?

That's what mine says too. It's a valid VIN, as I am copying directly from my paperwork!

I'm not in the listed ranges, but I'm not convinced that means anything. Time to call my dealer I guess....

I think it's too soon to know if this particular re-flash has an effect. Past reflashes seem to have had effects, but I don't have firssthand experience with that.

Thanks Nate. Looks like I'm on "the list".

Made an appointment with my local dealer who advised the fix process will take 3.5 to 4.0 hours.

How come my VIN has 9 digits after the 20U but the pdf document list of VINs shows 7 digit numbers? Should I ignore the first 2 or last 2 digits?
