The Prius C just cannot seize to amaze me.

I drove in the eco mode (button) for the first week.
Maybe some have read my driving "tips" that I use.

For the last 2 days I took off eco mode.
I just drive as normal. I even gun it from stop lights when it turns green.
Too much to explain, but I have some fun on the road.
The C can and is faster than most four bangers!

BUT what really tickles our fancy?

    MPG!

    Check the attachments!

72.1 mpg for 13.9 miles...my personal best for the distance.
I still cant get over that it only cost $0.75
When this would have cost me well over a gallon in my Scion @ 27mpg (w/ all the starts and stops)

Please let us know how well you are doing.
I cant say if eco is better than regular, or viceversa just yet.
    Still testing.

Yes, I am seeing well over 70 mpg on 20-mile trips into town (I've kept it in eco mode). In fact, last Monday, a 20-mile trip on a mild day elicited over 80 mpg. It's beautiful to see.

However, I would recommend against gunning the engine during the break-in period (just as a precaution for longevity). ;)

It is small, but maybe 3.5 inch diagonal or something.

You can toggle between 10 or so screens to see any info you need.
    It is nice!

-- on gunning it, I have only taken it into the red power very few times.
I dont floor it to the actual floor.
(I did take it close once just to see what it has, hehe)

I burn with a deep, vile filled jealousy at the wonder of your MPG.

Yesterday, it cost me $40.00 to fill up my Honda Fit...it's NEVER cost me that much.

What is more impressive to me is the 72.1 mpg for 270 miles. Am I reading that correctly?

You mean 290? Nope, that is just his odometer. Above the 72.1 figure, "from Start" is noted to indicate that it is the mileage from the start of the current trip (when the vehicle was last started).

On the other image, look down at the "DISTANCE" reading of 13.9 miles. That is what 72.1 mpg correlates with.

I mean the first picture. The 290 is ODO, the MPG is obvious. What is the the 314?

Yesterday I glided around a parking lot for like ten minutes waiting for my wife to get off work and got the mpg up to 99 for a second before I ran low on battery and the ICE kicked in. I no longer feel frustrated in traffic, it only serves to boost my mileage. Driving this car is a joyful experience.

    vinnie and squall are correct.

    secondspassed...haha, loving it!!
using your EV will save gas, but when your bars are down...try
not to use it unless ready to go down hill.
When the ICE kicks in, it uses gas up pretty good.

We have lots of hills around my area, so I use EV constant, anytime I can.
I know I will either be using the ICE going up the hills and recharging,
or coming down them to charge.
Then when I am flat, I am all EV.
Turns out to be crazy MPG

It was only 5.9 miles, but I got 84.6 mpg (best ever yet) on my way to work yesterday.
made it in the top 3 records!
Maybe fro the warmer weather, also made best mpg for driving my son to school....
about 1.5 miles round trip, but ICE normally comes on in morning so I was averaging
    about 18-30 mpg....yesterday was 50mpg!

I debated about using eco mode at first but want to see what "normal" mode gives me so I have a basis for comparison... I'm having fun trying to see how long I can keep it running on the electrics around town this week. It's surprising just how long you can do that.

I have been keeping it in the eco mode because I like the stiffness in the pedal.
I can step on it pretty good (without looking at dash) and can judge I stay out of the red.

I am going to try after my first fill up to keep it out of eco, to test mpg between both,
but because of breaking and getting use to the car/hybrid I may just run my second tank
in the eco mode. Still not sure yet.

After 450 miles (two fuel bars left) I am averaging 55.4 mpg (reading dash)

I just bought a 2012 Prius 4 and am totally jealous of these full color screens! I don't know why they couldn't have just put it in our gen III Prii too!

    They're a different size. Ours is a 5" "widescreen" MID. There's is a 3.5" 4:3 screen.

Just got our family car... a 2012 Prius #3
Got the nav for the heck of it (I think it will come in handy on trips)

Comparing it to my PC 3.5 inch....hmm I think they are both cool.
The C's super bright color is very nice though.

(I need to see if I can adjust the screen color/brightness in the Prius)
